This Qum rug is knotted in the holy town of Qum in central Persia. The wool used is known as cork-wool and it is sheared from the neck of the lamb. This is rug is woven on a Silk Warp with very high knot count. This makes it possible to spin the wool extra thin, thus leading to durable threads which makes the carpet very tight. The rug is extremely well-made and in some cases very detailed. This kind of rug shows a fine tradition of knotting silk carpets, truly a highly rare and collectible piece and will appreciate in value over time and a great investment piece.
