    This rug is woven in Mahalat southwest of the capital Tehran. The rug is woven with beautiful shining wool and it has regular knotting making it one of the strongest of the Persian carpets. Mahalat rugs and  are found with both tribal and curvilinear motifs. This attribute derives from the unique position of the city of Mahalat, which is between the cities of Arak and Delijan, on the path of the tribal people of Southern Iran.

    RUGS WOVEN BY NOMADS: Nomads move continuously and do not stay permanently in one geographic region.They weave handmade carpets on collapsible looms. Due to that fact there may be slight variations in weaving and the different shades of wool with sometimes uneven in shape giving it a real feeling of a genuine nomadic handicraft. The weaving is made from memory and it depends on each artisans momentary inspiration. The workmanship is of high quality from hand spun wool to preparing the natural dyes from organic plants and roots to dye the wool in different colors in preparation for weaving.
