The Farahan district is located in central Iran, south of Tehran and near the cities of Arak, Kashan and Qum and was home to the original Farahan rugs. Rugs from Farahan are made on a cotton foundation with soft, thin wool knotted in an asymmetrical fashion. Rugs from this district can vary in style but in general are excellent in quality with beautiful natural dyes and are exceptionally durable. The older, more unique rugs from this district are extremely valuable and are collectible pieces.
