DESCRIPTION:
Sanandaj (Senneh) rugs and carpets are one of the best quality of Kurdish rugs. The pattern of Senneh rugs are almost always geometric. The rug has a similar pattern as a Bijar. The medallions are usually hexagons, sometimes with steps that is a single diamond medallion in the center on a detailed background. These medallions are often concentric, smaller medallions within larger ones. Sanandaj rugs and carpets have Herati design pattern. Another design woven by Sanandaj weavers is an all-over boteh. The quality of Sanandaj (Senneh) rugs are excellent. The older ones are extremely valuable and durable. Senneh are prized for their delicate pattern and coloring and for their fine weave. They are by far the most sophisticated of the. The designs usually involve some repeating pattern, or diaper, such as the in which a diamond lattice pattern peeps through a tangle of blossoms and leaves or through intricate versions of the, a leaf with curling tip. The entire field may show such a pattern, or a medallion scheme may introduce a hexagonal centerpiece and straight-arched ends.
