DESCRIPTION:
This rug is Hand-knotted by Armenians in the village of Lilihan, in the Arak district in western Iran. The carpet is generally thick and colourful, dominated by pink. The pattern often consists of curvilinear floral motifs, but also geometric ones occur. The Lilihan rug forms part of the group of Hamadan carpets.These rugs have a velvety surface and are finely woven and durable and with their distinctive colors, and exceptional detail, the long-wearing Lilihan rugs are an extraordinary work of art.
