    DESCRIPTION:
This rug is knotted by nomads and semi-nomadic Ghashghais in southwestern Iran. The rug is known for their its primitive, naive patterns with rustic charm. The nomads get their inspiration from the environments around them, which gives a modern and exciting carpet. The wool is generally of good quality.
Gabbeh (from the Persian language farsi; raw, natural, uncut) represents a rough and primitive carpet with patterns mostly made by Ghashghai nomads from the Farsi province in the southwest of Iran. These carpets are probably the most well-known handmade carpets from Iran. They are manufactured by handspun wool, both in the pile and warp, and the yarns are dyed using plant dyes. The carpets are much thicker than other Persian carpets, sometimes up to 2.5 cm thick.

The patterns of the carpet are of a simple type with only a few elements of decorative, mostly rectangular objects containing animals. During the last decades, the weavers have had to meet the demands of the west and have therefore, resorted to using large light fields with chary pattering in the Gabbeh carpets.

RUGS WOVEN BY NOMADS: Nomads move continuously and do not stay permanently in one geographic region. They weave handmade carpets on collapsible looms. Due to that fact there may be slight variations in weaving and the different shades of wool with sometimes uneven in shape giving it a real feeling of a genuine nomadic handicraft. The weaving is made from memory and it depends on each artisans momentary inspiration. The workmanship is of high quality from hand spun wool to preparing the natural dyes from organic plants and roots to dye the wool in different colors in preparation for weaving. Persian Handmade rugs have a timeless appeal which transcends the whims of fashion, and are one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly flooring options available. Each unique design represents the artistic vision and fine craftsmanship by the hand of the weaver.
