Tabriz Persian rugs are woven in Tabriz, the 2nd largest city in Iran/Persia. It is the capital of the East Azerbaijan Province in NW Iran and is located close to the Turkish border. Rug weaving in Tabriz has a long history. It is actually one of the oldest weaving centers and has been a center of rug production longer than any other cities in Iran/Persia.

The peak of the Tabriz weaving production was in the 15th and 16th centuries and its weaving were highly sought after both in Europe and the West. The second half of the 19th century saw another surge in outstanding Tabriz rug production.

RUGS WOVEN BY NOMADS: Nomads move continuously and do not stay permanently in one geographic region. They weave handmade carpets on collapsible looms. Due to that fact there may be slight variations in weaving and the different shades of wool with sometimes uneven in shape giving it a real feeling of a genuine nomadic handicraft. The weaving is made from memory and it depends on each artisans momentary inspiration. The workmanship is of high quality from hand spun wool to preparing the natural dyes from organic plants and roots to dye the wool in different colors in preparation for weaving. Persian Handmade rugs have a timeless appeal which transcends the whims of fashion, and are one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly flooring options available. Each unique design represents the artistic vision and fine craftsmanship by the hand of the weaver.
